Kerelian Fish Fry (Semolina fish fry)




Kerelian Fish Fry
Semolina fish fry

Ingredients
  • Fish pieces                                 6 pieces
  • Turmeric powder                       1 tsp
  • Lemon juice                               1 tbsp
  • Ginger & garlic paste               1 tsp
  • Green chili paste                      1 tsp
  • Tandoor masala powder          1 tsp
  • Semolina (suji)                        1 cup
  • Hing                                        a pinch
  • Chili powder                           1 tsp
  • Carom seeds (ajwain)            1 tsp
  • Oil for deep fry
  • Salt to taste

Process

Clean and rinse fish pieces with water and then apply 1 tsp turmeric and 1 tsp salt. Again clean fish with water to remove turmeric and salt. Now keep the fish pieces in a mixing bowl and marinate fish pieces with salt, lemon juice, g & g paste, chili paste and masala powder. Mix well and keep it aside for an hour. Now take a plate and add semolina (suji), hing, salt, chili powder and carom seeds (ajwain). Mix all these items well (do not add water) and keep aside. Now take a pan and add oil for deep fry on the flame. Now take each marinated fish piece and roll in semolina all the sides tightly. Roll all the fish pieces in semolina and deep fry in oil till golden brown. Serve kerelian fish fry with veg salad and green chutney (pudina chutney). Now so tasty, yummy, crisp and crunchy fish fry is ready to serve and eat.







Note- We can use any masala powder in stead of tandoor masala powder while marinating fish.

 Ingredients


  • Fish pieces                                        6 nos
  • Onion slices                                      1/2 cup
  • Green chilies slices                           8 nos
  • Tomato chopped                              1/4 cup
  • Coriander chopped                          1/4 cup
  • Mustard seeds                                 3 tbsp s
  • Cumin seeds                                   few
  • Curry leaves                                   few
  • Garlic cloves                                 10 nos
  • chili powder                                  1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder                          1 tbsp
  • Garam masala powder                  1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Process

Clean fish with water, apply turmeric and salt and wash again and keep aside. Now place a bowl, marinate fish pieces with 3/4 tbsp haldi and 1/2 tsp salt. Now make a smooth paste of 3 tbsp s mustard seeds with garlic and a pinch of haldi powder. Place a pan on the flame, add 1 tbsp oil and fry (grill) marinated fish both sides in a lower flame till golden brown. Now take another pan on the stove pour 2 tbsp s oil, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and karepatta and saute well. Now add onion slices, green chili slices and saute well till golden brown. Add mustard, garlic paste, mix well and after 5 minutes add 1 big cup of water and bring to boil. When it starts boiling add chopped tomatoes, chopped coriander, chili powder and salt. Mix well and  add fried fish pieces, cook for 5 minutes in a lower flame and add garam masala and toss. When the gravy is medium thick, off the flame and garnish with chopped fresh coriander and serve hot with steamed rice. Now yummy, healthy and tasty fish besoro is ready to eat.

Mustard fish

Ingredients:

  1. Fish                                 6 pieces
  2. Mustard oil                     3 tbsp
  3. Mustard                          1 tbsp
  4. khus khus                       1 tbsp
  5. Garlic(flakes)                 15 no.s
  6. Onion                              2 big sized
  7. Tomato                           1 big sized
  8. Green chilies(sliced)       6 no.s
  9. Curd(fresh)                     1 cup
  10. Turmeric powder            1/2 tsp                  
  11. Garam masala                 1tsp
  12. Sugar                               a pinch
  13. Salt                                  to taste
                          

Process:

Take a pan add mustard oil, fish, a pinch salt and turmeric powder and allow it to fry for 10 minutes in low flame and keep aside. Make a paste of mustard, khus khus, 8 garlic flakes and 1 onion.
Take a pan pour 2 tbsp f mustard oil fry onion slices and add the paste and toss it finely. Add the remaining garlic flakes, sliced chilies and sliced tomatoes , fry it for 10 minutes and add curd. Now add salt, sugar and garam masala powder and add fried fish . Cook for 10-15 minutes till the fish is done with thick gravy as shown in the picture.The delicious Mustard fish is ready to eat.
